Study Material & Intellectual Property Policy
Draft for review — not yet in effect.
About this policy
This policy covers two linked topics in one place: who owns the material in Mauli Classes, and how that material is protected. We keep them together because the protection only makes sense once you know whose work it is.
Material created by Mauli Classes and the Teacher
Mauli Classes is operated by Rani Mayur Gaikwad as an individual tuition/coaching provider, and she is the Teacher. Notes, worksheets, explanations, practice questions and similar material that the Teacher prepares for the class are her work.
This material is shared with enrolled students so they can learn. Sharing it with you does not transfer ownership.
Tests and question papers
Tests and question papers set by the Teacher are part of the material above, and the same rules apply. Please do not copy or share them, so that tests stay fair for everyone.
Textbooks and other publishers' material
Mauli Classes does not own school textbooks, reference books, guides or other publishers' material. They belong to their authors and publishers.
Sometimes the Teacher may use short extracts of such material, or photos of chapter pages, in the course of teaching. Indian copyright law allows certain reproduction by a teacher in the course of instruction. The Teacher decides, case by case, whether a particular use falls within what the law permits for educational purposes. [OWNER/LAWYER CONFIRMATION REQUIRED: whether classroom use of third-party textbook extracts in the app is permitted educational use]
If you own the rights in material that appears in Mauli Classes and you think it should not be there, please follow the Copyright & Takedown page at /copyright.
Students' homework
- Your homework belongs to you. Mauli Classes does not claim ownership of a student's own work.
- By submitting homework in the app, the student, with the parent's permission, allows Mauli Classes to store it, review it, write feedback on it, and show it to the student, the student's linked parent and the Teacher, only for teaching.
- We do not use students' work for advertising or publicity, and we do not show it to other students or families.
- This permission ends when the work is deleted, for example when the student's account is deleted.
Notes made with AI
Mauli Classes does not currently use AI to create notes or material from real class content. If this changes, it will be explained in the AI-Assisted Learning Policy at /ai-policy before it starts, including how copyright in the source material is respected.
Watermarked copies
Students and parents do not receive the Teacher's original files. They receive a copy marked "MAULI CLASSES", which opens in the app's own viewer.
- The watermark shows that the material comes from Mauli Classes. It does not contain your name or any personal details.
- On Android phones, the viewer asks the phone to block screenshots and screen recording, where the phone supports this.
- On iPhone and iPad, screenshots and recordings of the viewer show a blank screen, and the app is blurred in the app switcher.
These measures are designed to discourage copying. They cannot stop every method, for example someone photographing the screen with another device. That is why the rules below matter.
Name and logo
The name "Mauli Classes" and its logo identify the class. Please do not use them for your own material, groups or pages in a way that suggests a connection with the class. [OWNER/LAWYER CONFIRMATION REQUIRED: any trademark registration for the Mauli Classes name and logo]
What you may do
While the student is enrolled, the student and their linked parents may:
- open and read the material in the app;
- use it for the student's own study and revision;
- talk about it with the Teacher, family members or classmates as part of studying.
What you may not do
- Share, forward, post or upload the material anywhere outside the app, including WhatsApp groups, social media or file-sharing sites.
- Sell it, rent it, or use it to teach others or run another class or tuition.
- Remove, hide, crop or edit the watermark.
- Try to get around the viewer's protection, or copy the material with another device, screen-capture tools or modified phones.
- Copy tests or question papers, or share answers to tests that have not been held yet.
- Present Mauli Classes material as your own.
If these rules are broken
The Teacher will respond in proportion to what happened, as described in the Acceptable Use Policy at /acceptable-use. This can include asking for shared copies to be removed, pausing access or ending access. Copying or selling material without permission can also be unlawful.
